Who we are

This website, xlenergy.co.uk, is run by Excel Energy Consulting Limited (“Excel Energy Consulting”, “we”, “us”), a company registered in England and Wales with company number 14417065. Our registered office is Devonshire House, 582 Honeypot Lane, Stanmore, HA7 1JS. We are the controller of the personal information described in this notice.

If you have any questions about this notice or how we handle your information, email us at info@xlenergy.co.uk.

The information we collect

  • When you contact us through the website form or by email: your name, email address, company and phone number (if you give them) and the content of your message.
  • When we work with you or your organisation: business contact details and the information we need to deliver our services, manage the engagement and invoice.
  • When you visit the website: technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, which our hosting provider records in server logs for security and to keep the site running.

How we use it and our lawful basis

  • To reply to your enquiry and discuss how we can help. Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in responding to people who contact us, or taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
  • To provide our consulting services and manage our relationship with clients. Lawful basis: performance of a contract.
  • To keep business, tax and accounting records. Lawful basis: legal obligation.
  • To keep the website secure, for example by blocking repeated failed log-in attempts. Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in protecting our website.

We do not sell your personal information or use it for automated decision-making, and we do not send marketing emails without your permission.

Cookies and third-party services

Our website sets only the cookies it needs to work, such as those that keep logged-in administrators signed in. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not run our own analytics.

Our hosting provider, GoDaddy, adds a performance-monitoring script to the pages of this website. The script sets three cookies: _tccl_visitor, which lasts up to one year, and _tccl_visit and _scc_session, which are short-lived. GoDaddy uses them to measure how the website performs. You can block or delete these cookies in your browser settings, and the website will still work normally. We will update this notice if this changes.

Our fonts are hosted on our own website, so your browser does not contact a third-party font service when you visit.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only where needed, with:

  • our website hosting provider (GoDaddy) and our email provider (Microsoft), who process it on our behalf;
  • professional advisers such as our accountants or lawyers, where necessary;
  • authorities, if the law requires it.

Some of these providers may process information outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that don’t lead to work: up to 24 months after our last contact.
  • Client and contract records: six years after the engagement ends, to meet legal and tax requirements.
  • Server and security logs: for the period set by our hosting provider.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of your personal information, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Some rights apply only in certain circumstances. To make a request, email info@xlenergy.co.uk. We will respond within one month.

How to complain

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, helpline 0303 123 1113.
